Today’s PA Visit

Published by slcolman under Health Issues Edit This

I saw the PA again today and we reviewed the x-ray report and some of the blood work.  The x-ray definitively showed that my right hip has multiple areas of sclerosis which leads to a black and white diagnosis of sacroiliitis.  OK, so now we know pretty much 100% that sacroiliitis is what is causing all my hip, lower back and leg pain.  What to do about the issue remains to be seen though.  Another thing that remains to be seen is what caused this to happen all of a sudden with no trauma so to speak at the joint which appears to be typical of onset.  The PA is calling around trying to find me a rheumatologist - Ugh another specialist, like I don’t already have enough of them in my life!  For the time being I am going off the oral steroids as they do not seem to be helping and instead looking for somewhere to get this list of vitamins that are supposed to help reduce inflammation.  So, if anyone recommends a good high quality not overly expensive brand of vitamins then speak up!!  LOL  Also, on the blood work front my white blood cell counts are VERY high but the percentage breakdowns aren’t very helpful as they don’t red flag a massive raging infection or leukemia for instance but instead might point towards the systemic inflammation that seems to be occuring.  Ummm, so yeah I know I am having a systemic inflammatory issue - I have been telling the doctors that my IBS is acting up in new and unpleasant ways along with the “brain fog” and the pain in my joints (especially the right hip) and all the rest of my laundry list of complaints currently.  So, other than a firm diagnosis of sacroiliitis I am not sure what we accomplished today!

For those of you who are interested the list of anit-inflammatory vitamins includes:

  • Omega 3 Fish Oil - 3,000 mg/day
  • Vitamin C - in powder or crystal form if possible to tolerance (Check out Doctor Yourself for info on tolerance and such if you are interested)
  • Vitamin E - 800 iu/day
  • Beta Carotene - 50,000 iu/day
  • Quercitin - 500 mg/day
