When Did Doctors Stop Caring About Their Patients?

I called the doctor’s office in Saratoga this morning.  I got called back this afternoon by the doctor.  The call did not go well and I am very very frustrated and feel like I have nowhere medically to turn.  I really had hoped that she would be the answer since I had seen her before when she was the doctor at the clinic here in Medicine Bow.

She agrees that I need the ultrasound of my kidney done, but she wont order it (neither will the doctor that ordered the CT scan to begin with his nurse called me Friday to say I needed it but that I needed to get it done on my own) and the hospital will not do it without a doctors order.

She said that I should go see a chiropractor for the hip. I mentioned the spiking fever and other symptoms of the sacroiliitis that the radiologist report mentioned and she said that she didn’t think that I needed to see a doctor for that and I should go to this chiropractor she gave me the information for instead.  I really think that she knows nothing about sacroiliitis because from what I have read it is imperative to get the inflammation and such under control before trying alternative treatments such as a chiropractor.  I did read that in some cases chiropractic adjustment helps quite a bit, but that it needs to be in conjunction with more traditional medical treatments.

Then she said - Oh did you hear that you have a new PA and doctor starting on Monday at the clinic there in Medicine Bow. I said no thank you for your time and pretty much hung up.

I called the clinic secretary and am scheduled to see the PA on his first day here which is Monday the 9th. The doctor proper wont be here for another week after that but at least I can get seen and hopefully by someone who cares and wants this pain to end for me.  The secretary at the clinic will advocate for me so I am hopeful that this will lead to someone helping me instead of just brushing me off like everyone else seems to be doing.

I am so frustrated and just want to lay down and cry because nobody in the medical profession seems to care that I am in extreme pain.

The radiology report is in black and white and has a diagnosis that makes sense but none of these doctors will move forward with it.

I really do not understand why no one will listen to you. What would happen if you showed up at the emergency room? Do you think you could get help that way?

I really cannot imagine how frustrated you are. I have gone through problems with my migraines, but it is nothing compared to yours. You have proof that something is wrong and they still will not listen to you.

    I wish I could give you a hug. :-)

    Hi,
As I’m sure you can guess by my name, my husband is a chiropractor. Unfortunately, we’re not close enough to you for me to recommend you come to us!

I spoke to him about your entry and frustration (I even read it out to him). He suggested that you do go see the chiropractor that was recommended to you. Chiropractors are great for a few reasons: most will see you on that day. They won’t mess you around for weeks, especially if you’re in pain. The chiropractor will also be able to find the cause of your problem (I know you have the radiologist’s report and a diagnosis, but I’m talking about a misalignment of your spine/hips that’s putting stress on your nerves).

As far as your fever is concerned, my husband says that that could be a sign of infection, as your body is raising your overall temperature to burn out the germs. But the chiropractor should be able to thoroughly evaluate you and give you some recommendations. It’s certainly better than playing phone tag!

I wish you all the best.
