From Huskies To Husbands

Today I am going to blog about a family near and dear to my heart.  For the whole story please go to Darling Denalli Rae at the wonderful Caring Bridge Organization .  I want to say up front that this story is still happening, the family and especially Denalli are going through this medical situation right now every moment of every day.

We met this family at the small town church where DH is the fill in pastor.  When we first met them they were just a beautiful young couple pregnant with their first child.  We got to see them grow into a family of 3 with the birth of their amazing daughter Denalli.  Then they moved away to another state and were blessed with the arrival of their wonderful son Grayett.  They became a loving family of 4 with a whole lifetime to love and grow together.

Then on October 24, 2008 their whole world was turned up on end with the diagnosis of SMA type II (Spinal Muscular Atrophy).  Needless to say a lot of their time is now spent going to and from and at doctors appointments and other such medical stuff.  They are a strong wonderful family with a great support system though :)  So, I know that with that and their faith in God that they can get through whatever the SMA sends their way!

Tomorrow our church is having a benefit dinner at the local high school basketball games for this wonderful family.  I hope that there is a great turn out and that everything goes smoothly.  It is a great example of how communities, even extended communities can still make an effort and come together to do something good.
