Crockpot BBQ Pork Anyone?

Published by slcolman under Recipes & Food Edit This

Today I am cooking a pork roast in the crock pot with my special BBQ Dry Rub.  Let me tell you it smells so good!!  I can not wait for it to be finished - LOL  That is the worst part of being at home while cooking in the crock pot, you smell it all day!

I thought that I would share my recipe for the dry rub that I used.  It is the basic dry rub from the Food Network show Down Home with the Neely’s but with additions to make it more to my liking and jazz it up a little.  I hope that you enjoy it as much as we do!

BBQ Dry Rub

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cup paprika
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
4 tbs onion powder
4 tbs garlic powder
4 tbs salt
4 tbs black pepper
1 tbs ground mustard

Place all the ingredients in a bowl, mix well to evenly distribute everything.
Store in an air tight container.
Lasts 6 months or longer.

To use liberally sprinkle onto your meat.  This rub is good on pork, chicken, turkey, and beef.
Let marinate a few hours in the refrigerator or overnight is best.  However, you can cook the meat right away too.

To cook in the crock pot place the marinated meat in the crock pot fattiest side up.  Add water to reach about 1/2 way up the meat.  Add a few drops of liquid smoke to the water.  Cook on high for 6 hours or low for 8 hours or until the meat is done.
