Happy Birthday to Me!
Today marks the passage of another year in my life, and as usual the addition of another year to that magical number which is my age I have to take a moment to reflect on life.
First today was not only my 34th birthday it was also the funeral of a dear friends daughter. I must say that attending a funeral even of someone which you did not know in life on ones birthday is very odd. While my heart breaks for my friend the mother, my heart soars for the daughter who has passed and is no longer here in pain in her earthly body but instead in heaven with perfect joy. Attending the funeral really brought fresh to my mind the question - Am I leaving a mark on this earth for which upon death I would be proud? Am I accomplishing something worthwhile with my life? Am I living a life worthy of the very air I breathe and the sacrifice for which my Saviour made in paying the ultimate price of His very life?
I would like to say that the answers to those questions are a resounding yes; however, I know deep in my heart that there is room for improvement in my life on many many fronts. I hope that I can keep those questions in my heart and mind more often this next year of my life and be able to say that I have indeed made progress towards those ends before I reach my next birthday.
